Sunshine Village

Accommodation:

We arrived in the Great White North with excitement for big mountain skiing and friendly hosts. After spending a bit of time in Banff over the summer we understood the layout of town and protocols of #Vanlife. Our first stealth camping mission was a success, spending the night in town, with snow falling on our fiberglass roof.

Ski Experience:

After riding the gondola up from the parking lot we got to the Sunshine Village base area. This mountain has a tremendously unique feel. The usual luxury hotel, that would usually be located at the base of the ski area, is staged at mid mountain.

We had a blast exploring the two major peaks of the resort but found our best turns at high elevations and on steep terrain. The Goats Eye Peak offers incredible steep sustained pitches with beautiful views of the ski area and over into Alberta!

Something You Cannot Miss:

Delirium Dive. It's an "out of bounds" aspect off of the Great Divide Express quad. After a boot pack and leaving the ski area boundary you're faced with a 1800ft menu of steep chutes, faces and terrain that will funnel out into the belly of Lookout Mountain and direct you back to the Goats Eye quad. There are some very straight forward offerings from the top, where you can scout your line all the way to the bottom. But there are also some more interesting routes for the adventure seekers! **YOU MUST HAVE AVALANCHE RESCUE EQUIPMENT (BEACON, SHOVEL, PROBE) TO ACCESS THIS TERRAIN**
