About LilTruck
January 1 2018 - Now
With all endings come new beginnings.
The Little Van was great to us, it did everything we asked of it (albeit not quickly or comfortably) we couldn't have asked for a better Van. It was tough to let it go, but we found the right buyer and knew the van was on to more adventures with a new family. Once the sale closed we were left with a hankering for an expedition ready ride.
In steps LilTruck. The year is 2008. The color is Onyx. The clearance is high and the drivetrain is 4x4. We were smitten!
Above all, the Van had given us more insight than we could have ever known. A summer of hard knocks and extreme use gave us terrific data points on what was a necessity and what was a luxury. There were times driving the coast of California that we truly envied lighter, more nimble vehicles. The windy, icy roads of Canada ensured our pursuit of four wheel drive. Climbing into our bunk with the bed proactively dressed became a dependable comfort. Reliable heat and air conditioning would prevent many uncomfortable cockpit spats. We couldn't thank the Little Van enough for the lessons and thus felt that the LilTruck was a practical nod to its predecessor.
We've had less permanent mods to the truck, but they've all fit the bill:
-Leer 100 topper (red)
-Bed built from 2 2x6's and a sheet of 3/4" plywood
-Thule T2 Classic Bike rack
-Yakima Space case roof box
Everything is modular and dependable, the truck can transform from bike rig to ski parking lot chalet in less than an afternoon. The goal of the LilTruck is to enable us to pursue our adventures on a more casual basis. As far as we've seen, it's done that and so much more. We have been unbelievably happy with the change in vehicle, always thinking of our Little Van roots, and we're always looking forward to the next time we get to saddle up!
